WHY DO I WANT TO LIVE HERE?

Welcome to the strangely beautiful world of Marnie Weber. These eerily intriguing characters would normally be delegated to the horror world, but something about Weber's composition obviously defies that category. I'm not scared. Are you?

Weber (above) has got list of street cred longer than the holy bible--Sonic Youth album covers, costume design, records, bands, multi-media exhibits all over the world--You get the picture. Visit her website to marvel at her wondrous world on your own. I'm kind of in love with her.

Thanks to my buddy Kelly Thacker over at Let's Die Friends for the tip.

HAZE DAYS

Sorry for the lack of posting this week, my friends. I just started a new job with a small marketing firm (yay!) and simultaneously came down with the flu. For the first few days of this wickedness, I didn't know if I was just stressing out or if I was tired from my first full day of work in nearly two years. But, alas, I am in full-blown influenza status. Here's a little secret--copy writing while hopped up on cold medication can actually work in your favor. This week flew by like nobody's business.

The only thing on the soundtrack to my new working life (which I love, by the way) has been The Mayfair Set, a side project from Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls fame and some dude from Blank Dogs. It was perfect bliss to compliment my week of hallucinating.

CUT OF THE WEEK

Hope you enjoy this spaced-out minimal synth artifact from Solid Space (circa '82). Download the full forgotten album.

The past few year's sporadic re-hashing of late '70s and early '80s European minimal synth pop is becoming more than just a blip on the music nerd radar, due largely to the efforts of Minimal Wave and upcoming cold wave compilations from labels like Angular Records. Like most undervalued weirdo scenes with passionate cult followings, minimal wave won't long remain a secret...

"THE FUTURE'S HERE," SAID THE PIONEER

After an uncertain few weeks of weighing my options, I have come to the conclusion that staying on Blogger (for now) is the best option for LGA. There are a number of reasons for this...

The biggest--WordPress does not allow Google Friend Connect on its free application due to security issues. I'm not too cheap to purchase my own domain. It's just a principality thing.

So, on that note, we are home. The future is here.

For those who may have been interested in the WordPress duds, I will continue to blog there. (The Ladies and Gents Auxiliary Reads) and will be buying a domain for an exciting new project I'm working on. Stay tuuuned...

Enough with these boring formalities. Onward!
